My work in porcelain is situated in the expressive tradition where clay is considered as a medium for an artistic practice that includes emotions and personal expression. I work with the very nature of porcelain. How will it warp and crack when I introduce stress into the process? How will it respond to the character of the flame in my salt kiln? My relationship with this process is a very meditative one that informs my exploration of the ephemeral nature of life, notions of control and submission, and our integral connection to the world around us.
