Scrolls

I am curious about diverse ways of knowing, and the intersection of nature and culture. I live in a forest and connect deeply with the environment. I am nourished by spending time in the woods walking amongst the silent giants, moving through light and shadow. The placement of these sculptural elements explores the identity of the individual within the collective. Relationships change as one walks past.

Sacred writings have been inscribed on scrolls over millennia. Written on a single sheet, there is no division, inferring an ongoing flow of guidance. Every porcelain scroll I make writes its own story, with its own language mysteriously appearing. Deciphering these lines, and interpreting the language of metaphor in spiritual texts to bring greater understanding to an evolving world draws me in.
